Summertime is right around the corner! (If I say it enough, our good 'ol PNW may get the hint right?) Here are a few tips for bringing your skin to it's happy place by simply enjoying some summertime favorites!
Eat Your Water!
We all know we need to drink more water. Do we actually do it? Maybe not, but we at least know we should! Eating your water is another way to give your body (and skin!) extra hydration because you won’t just flush it out immediately like it does when you drink it. This is a great habit to build as spring/summer rolls around and all the yummy produce comes out. My faves are cucumber and watermelon, two foods high in water but are also good snackies. Other choices could be strawberries, grapefruit, zucchini, and tomatoes, all of which over 90% of their weight in water!
Because who (besides my husband... which means more for me!) doesn’t love all things avocado? Throw a couple more in the cart because they also contain glorious amounts of fatty acids to moisturize and soften your skin cells. You are also giving your body the tools to fight the visible signs of aging with an extra boost of antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C and Beta Carotene.
3. Green Tea! This hydrating, refreshing, green liquid rules supreme in summertime. (Sun tea anyone?) Sip green tea to reduce inflammation and redness, as well as give your body an extra boost of antioxidants to fight those free-radicals.
4. Salmon. Fish in general can do great things for your skin, but Salmon in particular has great concentrations of Fatty acids to, like the avocados, feed your skin and keep it silky soft. It also contains selenium, a mineral that helps protect the skin from sun exposure. Fun fact. Did you know 90% of aging comes from the sun? Yeah. Love hate relationship right there.
What are the special things you do to keep your skin glowing through out the summer? I'd love to hear them!
